Most "AI tools for contractors" lists are written for HVAC and plumbing. This one is for small metal shops: welding, fabrication, misc and structural steel, and small machine shops, roughly 1–25 people.
Our founder fits structural steel for a living. He picked these tools for the jobs a small shop actually has: quoting, takeoff, tracking jobs, paperwork and safety.
Where testing stands: no hands-on tests have been done yet. Every tool below says "hands-on test coming" until our founder has run it on a made-up practice job and we've written up the result.
How these are scored: the same formula as the rest of ToolTier (0.4×Quality + 0.2×Ease + 0.2×Price/Value + 0.2×Momentum; tiers S ≥ 8.8, A ≥ 8.0, B ≥ 7.0). Quality and ease come from each vendor's published features and independent reviews, not our own hands-on tests yet. Our founder is a working structural steel fitter. He'll test these tools on made-up practice jobs, and each card says "hands-on test coming" until that test is done and written up.
